The Studio:
Paradox Arctic was founded in 2014 by a dedicated team of industry veterans who had spent many years in the business. Their first initiative was to continue developing the “War of” franchise, but focus soon shifted to the Magicka 2 brand - which was successfully launched in 2015 on both PC and console. After a couple of years of working on projects such as Pillars of Eternity on console and Paradox’s multiplayer backend, we have gradually shifted into developing our own games.
Since 2018 we are developing Deep, Appealing and Personal games within the Management genre. Our mission is to grow the fanbase of Paradox Interactive by carving out our own niche of games.
The Team:
Working at Paradox Arctic means becoming part of a family. We take care of each other and we help each other succeed. We believe that a learning mindset and continuous individual development is the key to sustainable growth and success. We are a team of highly skilled industry veterans combined with new talent from other industries. We pride ourselves on our no-crunch-policy. We respect our work-life balance and make our games without overtime. Three words that describe our work process are agile, transparent and informal. At Paradox Arctic, work life is like an RPG. We constantly develop our skills and challenge ourselves to level up!
The Location:
The Paradox Arctic Studio is located in the north of Sweden, in a coastal town called Umeå. Our name Arctic is a reference to the closeness to the Arctic circle. Umeå is a great place if you enjoy the outdoors. Down-hill skiing in the middle of the city is only one of the perks of enjoying Umeå in the winter. Snowmobiling is another. But the city is most beautiful in the summertime when the sun almost never sets and you can enjoy the company of your friends in one of the many open-air restaurants. https://www.visitumea.se/en
Our Culture
In November 2016, we gathered the entire company for a four day conference in Malta. The focus of the conference was to discuss company direction, discuss our internal goals, and also put into words the company culture we are so keen to keep as we continue to grow. Together, we decided that the following cultural pillars are what makes up the foundation of Paradox:
- DEDICATED
- PASSIONATE
- GET SHIT DONE
- OPEN-MINDED
- NERDY
