Are you a creative and dedicated games industry professional with experience in game design? Are you a learning focused individual with a knack for documentation, who is interested in helping Paradox Development Studio take our brands to the next level? Then you may be the one we’re looking for!

As a Game Designer on the Crusader Kings III team in Stockholm, you will act as the right hand of the Game Director, focusing on designing and balancing engaging gameplay mechanics.

We are seeking game designers that are passionate about their craft and about creating exciting experiences for our players. It is important that you enjoy working in a team where everyone supports each other, and also that you are motivated by having the freedom and responsibility to take charge of a task and deliver. You care about quality and you’re motivated by the idea of our many fans around the world praising your work after release. You thrive in a creative environment where people around you love their jobs and the games we make. 

In addition to a couple of years of games industry experience, a deep and genuine interest in Paradox Grand Strategy Games is a requirement. 


  • Designing and implementing gameplay systems.
  • Testing implemented features and making sure they live up to expectations.
  • Writing and maintaining design documents.
  • Balancing gameplay systems by tweaking values in our scripts.
  • Engaging in research on related topics to find inspiration for crafting entertaining and suitable gameplay systems.

Required Qualifications

  • Professional experience in gameplay design.
  • Fluent in English.
  • Deep and genuine interest in strategy games; PDS games in particular.

Desirable Qualifications

  • Experience working with PDS games (for example modding).

It’s important that you aren’t afraid to raise issues, and that you continuously look for improvement and try to inspire your colleagues. Since we are a fast-paced company, curiosity and an ability to get into things quickly are two important abilities.
