Paradox Tectonic seeks a versatile and creative Senior Designer to join our team for a new IP.  You will work alongside the Creative Director, and manage external designers to create exciting, memorable, and replayable content.

We're looking for an experienced, self-starting design collaborator that is also excited about directing external design partners. Our ideal candidate brings with them a deep understanding of a diverse and predominantly female leaning PC gamer audience.

  • Leverage a deep understanding of existing systems to design compelling content and an emotionally satisfying sense of open ended progression or discovery for the player
  • Utilize a robust set of content creation tools including some structured scripting to rapidly execute and iterate on your design concepts
  • Craft content and mechanics which provide a satisfying emotional experience for the player.
  • Design and document new features and systems that fit harmoniously with the existing foundations of the game
  • Direct external partners to help them create compelling content consistent with our desired tone and game economy
  • Collaborate with our engineers in the creation of practical tools and pipelines for quest, events, dialogue and item creation
  • Provide insight into your workflow and actionable feedback so that our suite of tools is as efficient as we can make them for production. Advocate for more/better tools and systems when needed while continuing to work constructively within existing scope, schedule, and toolset constraints.
  • Self driven play testing of implemented work to insure it functions as intended and is delivered to a consistent quality level

  • Experience as a single-player Content Designer, Level Designer, or Quest Designer on multiple shipped, professional PC, Console or Mobile game projects.
  • A player-first mentality with an emphasis on enabling the player to make their own choices and tell their own stories
  • Experience with iterative development and rapid prototyping.
  • Enthusiasm to learn and master the flexible and robust in game scripting system to execute your own vision
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills that allow you to effectively express your intentions and needs to a distributed team
  • Discipline to self manage, self task and self evaluate.  You will be given a lot of creative and artistic freedom while being expected to consistently demonstrate progress and keep to mutually agreed upon deadlines.
