Technical Animator
Paradox Tectonic seeks a versatile and creative Technical Animator to join the Life by You team. You will work alongside the Art Director, fellow artists, and engineers to help us bring our world and humans to life.
We're looking for an experienced, self-starting tech animator with experience working with motion capture data. You will help bring our characters to life, elevate the visuals and find ways to improve workflow efficiency. In addition, our ideal candidate brings with them a deep passion for making games and solving challenging problems.
Responsibilities
Use keyframe and motion capture techniques to bring characters to life.
Support and implement animation content and fine-tune parameters for gameplay.
Work with the game engine in setting up character assets.
Help with skin weights for characters and assets on preexisting and new skeletons.
Work with our technical artist to define and improve the animation pipeline.
Work with cross-functional teams to help take animation assets through the art and game pipeline.
Collaborate with the art and engineering team to develop animation rigs and pipelines for characters, vehicles, and props.
Required Qualifications
BA/BS degree or equivalent work experience
At least three years of Unity game development experience with a good working knowledge of Unity editor scripting/tool development.
Ability to work well in a fluid, changing environment as creative challenges evolve.
Demo or portfolio of past work or samples.
A strong understanding of how to create animation for real-time games.
Experience animating assets on at least one AAA title from beginning to end or have shipped AAA PC or console titles in an animator position.
Expert-level proficiency with Autodesk Maya
Experience working with mocap and keyframed animation techniques.
Understand topology and anatomy and collaborate with artists to get good deformations.
Self-motivated, structured, proactive, and detail-oriented.
Strong communication and organizational skills.
Good eye and attention to details.
Experience in the following is a plus
MotionBuilder experience.
Acting for animation.
Utilizing a motion capture suit.
Scope: Full-time and permanent
Salary Range: 120,000-140,000 USD
Salary range is dependent on experience level, additional skills and location. Candidates must already be eligible to work in the United States.
Can be remote with in the United States but you are expected to keep overlapping work hours with a team situated in the San Francisco Bay Area.
