Are you the person to help us make the highest quality games possible? We are expanding our test automation department within the studio - creating an exciting opportunity for the right candidate to shape the way we create even better Strategy games!

Paradox development studio is looking for a Test Automation Engineer to spearhead our effort towards improving our games using test automation. As a member of the Verification team, you will be developing procedures, automated tools, and tests to cover the full depth and breadth of our games in development. 

This role is cross functional and you are expected to work in collaboration with our engine team, the development teams and our QA specialists. You will be given – and be expected to handle – a large degree of freedom. You will be expected to be involved at all stages of automated testing,  from finding the needs of the studio and identifying areas for improvement, to implementing the solution. 


You are going to take part in the ownership of automation infrastructure covering areas such as performance, stability, build verification etc..

You will write, implement and manage automated tests and in collaboration with our QA specialists and the game teams you will implement and improve on automation strategies. You will also maintain and develop our VM infrastructure on-premises as well as in the cloud. 

Other essential responsibilities include providing critical analysis of automation programming and development practices as well as communicating the quality of the product through metrics and spread your knowledge around automation.


  • Scripting experience. Python or similar scripting languages
  • Basic C++ skills or similar and experience with a c++ unit testing framework
  • 2+ years of experience of working with test automation 
  • Fluent in English (spoken and written)


  • A passion for the strategy game genre. Especially if you are familiar with the PDS games such as Europa Universalis, Crusader Kings and Hearts of Iron. 
  • Experience working with VM’s 
  • Familiarity with Jenkins, or similar automation software.
  • Experience with test management tools like Testrail or Spira, test framework like Catch2, and Google cloud platform or other cloud provider
  • Experience working in an agile environment
  • Experience working with Game QA testing experience and with different platforms, specifically Windows, macOS and Linux.
  • Interest in AI development and machine learning
  • ISTQB certification
