Senior 2D Artist

Are you a seasoned expert in developing fresh and varied looks for UIs, and also have the ability to create concept art for lookdev purposes? Great! Paradox is looking for a senior 2d artist that can be part of pushing the visuals of our in-development and upcoming projects to the next level.

Paradox Development Studio makes world-leading grand strategy games that our fans spends hundreds of hours in, and our artists make sure we do it in style! We are now looking for a talented artist to join our art team in Stockholm!

As a Senior 2D artist you will work closely with the Art Director in shaping the overall vision of our games. You will be given – and be expected to handle – a large degree of freedom, within the guidelines set by the Art Director. You will also be expected to have good communication skills, an eye for detail, and be comfortable diving in and creating whatever 2D content our games may require.

Key responsibilities

  • Visual development of UI mockups to help establish art style for various projects
  • Create concept art for art assets as well as look dev pieces for art direction.
  • Create and implement 2d assets into the games
  • Work with Art Director, UX and Design on the creation and revision of UI concepts
  • Maintain consistent style under the direction of the Art Director and carry out revisions as required
  • Share knowledge and motivate artists within the Art department
  • Actively participate in development of best practices


  • 5+ years of game industry experience
  • Portfolio with multiple strong examples of UI art
  • Experience creating user interfaces from concept to prototype to final.
  • Ability to concept characters, environments and props (everything!)
  • Comfortable using English in spoken and written form
  • Ability to create as well as adapt to and follow a variety of artistic styles
  • Skilled Photoshop user


  • A passion for the strategy game genre
  • Familiar with PDS grand strategy games
  • Interest and experience in UX
  • Knowledge of Adobe Illustrator and After Effects, 3d software.
  • Experience working in an agile environment

Scope: Fulltime and permanent

Reports to: Art manager

Location: This position is based in Stockholm
