Do you want to make a big difference at a small studio? Paradox is on an ambitious journey to explore and expand on Grand Strategy Games, a genre we invented and want to take to new heights. To do this, we are  looking for a Tech Lead in Malmö to solidify the hows to our projects' whats and whens. 

You will collaborate with other programmers, game designers, artists and QA, creating and expanding on one of our world-class Grand Strategy games. Your team will be small and autonomous where each member has a big impact on the finished game. In other words, at Paradox Malmö, you will play a big part in a small studio building a grand game.

This role comes with a lot of responsibility; you will be expected to lead your team towards a shared goal as well as being accountable for the technical delivery to get there. You will play a key part in the project and studio leadership making sure technical solutions are well aligned with game vision and release dates. 

Responsibilities

  • Balance technical decisions in both project and studio leadership teams 
  • Lead, coach and follow up other coders to ensure good architecture, performance and maintainability.
  • Break down and estimate features and flag high risks with plans for mitigation
  • When not directly leading the team you will spend time on software architecture  and developing different aspects of the game such as gameplay systems, AI, networking, graphics, user interface, our scripting language and optimization (typically 20-50% of your time)

Required Qualifications

  • Excellent understanding of modern C/C++ (C++11/14).
  • Experience of leading development teams or larger technical initiatives from pre production to live product
  • A minimum of 5 years of professional experience with C++
  • Strong sense of independence and an ability to take long-term ownership of your features.
  • You are comfortable in English, both written and spoken
  • Experience and interest in PDS Grand strategy games is considered an advantage
