Paradox Tectonic seeks a versatile and creative Senior UX Designer to be a key organizational leader around creating a complete interactive user experience for a next-generation simulation game supporting mouse, keyboard, and Gamepad/Controller. You will act as the player advocate at all times and solve unusual and difficult design problems on an innovative feature set. Our ideal candidate brings with them a deep understanding of a diverse and predominantly female leaning PC gamer audience.

What You’ll Do (Responsibilities)

  • Collaborate heavily with the design team to ensure the core systems designs are also user friendly and intuitive
  • Collaborate with the Art director to ensure the aesthetic of the UI achieves the desired visual and emotional tone
  • Generate mocks, wireframes, and visual effects examples to communicate the functionality and appearance of the final product to team members responsible for integration and execution
  • Distill complex concepts into clear and readable contextual informational displays
  • Creation of straightforward, easy to follow style guides and best practices to be deployed consistently throughout the game and product marketing materials 
  • Streamline internal engine-level editors and developer tool designs for ease of use and onboarding
  • Interpret user/player testing results into actionable improvements to the UI/UX 
  • Understand and follow the competitive landscape to continually improve the game
  • Understand and balance the competing needs of different player archetypes


  • 5+ years of experience working as a UX designer or in an equivalent role
  • Strong understanding and ability to execute UX design
  • Strong technical software skills to generate artistic and visual assets
  • Have shipped at least one PC title or one leading mobile title, preferably many titles across multiple genres

Nice to Haves

  • Experience with Unity and various UI middleware products
  • Strong understanding of a casual and female-centric audience
  • Animation and VFX experience
  • Being located in the Bay Area and able to travel to the office in Berkeley 2 days a week
  • Live operations, content support, and update support experience
  • An avid player of casual titles across many genres

You have an ability to thrive and communicate proactively in a remote work environment with minimal supervision. We believe the right candidate for this role has a player-first mentality with an emphasis on enabling the player to make their own choices and tell their own stories. Finally, you have the discipline to self manage, self task and self evaluate. You will have creative and artistic freedom with the expectation that you will demonstrate progress and keep to mutually agreed-upon deadlines.

Practical Information
Scope: Full-time and permanent

Can be remote but expected to keep consistent work hours with a team situated in the Bay Area. 

Must be able to provide proof of work-eligible status in the United States
