3D Art Lead - Crusader Kings 3
We are seeking a versatile Lead Artist with a profound interest in leading artists to grow and create their best work. The 3D Art Lead, with a focus on people and processes, plays a central role in maintaining cohesion of our art output to deliver the best game experience for our players.
This position is based in Stockholm, Sweden, and you will be reporting to the Art Manager of PDS Black. You will collaborate with the Art Director in overseeing the 3D Environment, Animation and Tech Art teams.
Responsibilities
Art Style & Quality Management
Maintain a consistent art style and, together with the Art Director and 3D Character Lead, drive the vision for 3D Art in CK3.
Own the quality, estimates and processes of the team while maintaining a positive Peer Review environment.
Create briefs and convey quality expectations to internal and external artists. Handling outsourcing operations for 3D Art.
Be an expert on the tech and gameplay features on the project.
Project & Process Management
Assist in project planning and ensure smooth transition through the various project phases.
Provide rational and thought-out time estimates for art assets production.
People & Team Management
Conduct 1:1 meetings with artists on the team and mentor them in their artistic growth.
Be an advocate for your team and maintain a healthy, enriching team environment.
Experiences And Capabilities
You have a portfolio that demonstrates strong command of art fundamentals.
You have experience with industry standard tools such as Maya, Substance 3D, Zbrush or Blender.
You have a genuine enthusiasm for history and Grand Strategy games. Prior experience working with historical and/or map-based games is a plus.
You have a passion for leadership and mentoring in addition to creating beautiful art.
You possess a pragmatic, holistic vision of what success means for the game.
You have fantastic communication skills, both verbal and in writing.
You have a high degree of self-sufficiency and drive. You have a proven ability to set long-term goals for yourself and your team, as well as advocating for these within an organization.
You have technical affinity for how game engines work, scripting languages, rendering and related topics.
