UI Artist - Unannounced Game Project
Role Overview
As a UI artist on this unannounced project, you will help shape a new chapter in Paradox Interactives’ constantly growing catalogue of games. You’ll work closely with an Art Director, UX Designer, Programmers and Content Designer to create a variety of 2D assets from illustrations, UI Elements and concept art. This project is early in its development and you’ll have the opportunity to contribute with your own artistic style to it within the established direction to help shape it until full production.
Key Responsibilities
Visual Design & Implementation
Create high-quality UI elements, icons, portraits, illustrations, and other 2D assets.
Develop and establish aspects of the game's visual direction.
Implement and optimize UI assets in the game engine with a focus on readability and performance.
Find modular smart ways to approach upscaling down the line.
Collaboration & Iteration
Work closely with the Art Director to shape the 2D art language of the game.
Partner with UX Designers to ensure clear and player-friendly navigation in interface.
Work with Programmers to integrate UI features while maintaining design intent.
Creative Problem-Solving
Come up with your own takes to not-yet established elements while communicating with the team about requirements and direction.
Help establish a visual language that demands readability and quality.
Requirements
Strong portfolio demonstrating hand-painted digital art skills and a keen eye for painting, composition, concept art and UI.
Able seamlessly to switch between more illustrated graphic design and realistic painting.
Working experience designing UI from concept to final implementation.
Understanding of UX principles and ability to collaborate with UX specialists.
Moderate scripting skills for UI integration.
Comfortable using English in spoken and written form.
Bonus Skills
Understanding of briefing and feedbacking outsource vendors
Passion for Paradox’s grand strategy titles or modding and interest in historical themes.
Skills in CSS, Actionscript, Javascript and HTML.
As part of the recruitment process, you may be asked to perform a test.
Practical information
Scope: Full-time and permanent with a 6 month probation period
Reports to: Managing Producer
Location: Stockholm, Sweden. Relocation will not be provided.
